Frank Mawi, Tanzanian

BSc (Dar es Salaam), MSc (Addis Ababa)

Frank Mawi is an ecologist with broad experience in natural resource management. His experience is in Tanzania in biodiversity conservation, ecological research, community based conservation, ethno-biology and natural resources mapping with GIS and Remote Sensing applications. Frank has experience of working with both governmental and non- governmental organisations in Tanzania.

Frank's experience includes college lecturing in wildlife management and environmental education, protected area zoning, ecological and social surveys, organising and convening workshops. Frank has worked in various conservation projects in Tanzania including the Mpingo Conservation Project, Wami-Mbiki Community Based Conservation Project, Tarangire Conservation Project, Mount Meru Conservation Project and Serengeti Carnivore Disease Project.

Frank holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Zoology and Wildlife Ecology from the University of Dar-es-Salaam and M.Sc.(Hons) in Biodiversity from Addis Ababa University. His M.Sc. thesis was on “The Response of Raptors to Land Use Changes in Kwakuchinja Wildlife Corridor in Northern Tanzania”. Frank is fluent in English, Swahili as well as his native Chagga language.
