| Hassan Sachedina is a specialist consultant in natural resources management, community development, organizational development and impact evaluation. Hassan has worked on a variety of environmental and social issues in over a dozen countries. Born in Kenya, Hassan has over 17 years of environmental work experience in East, Central and Southern Africa.
Most recently, he was Senior Technical Officer for Research, Monitoring and Evaluation with Project Concern International, a leading international community development and health organization where he continues to serve as a consultant. Based in San Diego, USA, Hassan conducted impact evaluations of multi-year programs in Latin America, Asia and Africa. |

Hassan is known for leading
pioneering conservation and development
initiatives through periods of strategic
growth. The Laikipia Wildlife Forum
serves as a model for landowner forums in
East Africa while the Laikipia Aloe Project
led the architecture of a national level
biodiversity enterprise project. Hassan
started his career with the Selous Rhino
Trust followed by six years with the African
Wildlife Foundation (AWF)
where he raised $13 million for conservation
in East and Central Africa.
Hassan sits on the boards of Baraka Africa and the Environmental Venture Fund. He has been awarded Fellowships with the Kinship Conservation Fellows, Reinhard Mohn Foundation, International Livestock Research Institute, Global Initiative for Traditional Systems (GIFTS) of Health at Oxford University's Institute of Health Sciences, Save the Rhino International, Ann and Robert H. Lurie Foundation and University of Kansas, USA.
Hassan holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of Oxford, UK. His doctoral thesis examined the socio-economic impacts of community-based conservation in northern Tanzania. His thesis was awarded the Mid-America Alliance for African Studies Graduate Paper Award and the 2008 Harold K. Schneider Student Prize in Economic Anthropology. Hassan has published over 10 scientific and technical publications and presented conference papers on five different continents.
Hassan also holds a B.A. degree from Middlebury College and an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford. In his free time, Hassan races triathlons for charity and is an accomplished pilot. Hassan speaks fluent English, Kiswahili and French.
