| Riziki Shemdoe is a consultant in sustainable
utilization of natural resources and an
experienced project manager. His experiences
include: traditional knowledge in managing
natural resources, wetland management, disaster
and risk management, communication strategies,
sustainable use of natural resources for
improving human settlements in the rural
areas, ecosystem health, dryland biodiversity,
land use and resource management.

Shemdoe has worked on and administered
a number of small grant research projects
and consultancies funded by different organizations
including WWF, International Development Research
Centre (IDRC),
Man and the Biosphere Programme of United
Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO-MaB),
World Conservation Union (IUCN),
ProVention Consortium, Research Programme for Sustainable
Utilization of Dryland Biodiversity (RPSUD),
The African Forest Research Network (AFORNET),
Britain Tanzania Society (BTS)
and TRAFFIC
East & Southern Africa.
Shemdoe has worked on issues related to
traditional knowledge, biodiversity conservation,
ecosystem health and sustainable development.
He worked as a Young Scientist Summer Research
Fellow at the International Institute for
Applied Systems Analysis in Laxenburg, Austria
for three months on issues relating to sustainable
development under the Initiative for Science
and Technology for Sustainability (ISTS).
Shemdoe has attended and presented papers
in different local and international fora
on issues linked to natural resource management.
He is employed at Ardhi University (ARU)
as assistant research fellow where he also
lectures project management and research
methods as subjects to undergraduate students.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Forestry,
anMSc in Management of Natural Resources
for Sustainable Agriculture, both from Sokoine
University of Agriculture (SUA),
Tanzania and a PhD from Belgium. |
